What to do in an emergency

Here at the ADHD Collective, many of us know all too well the pain of living with ADHD, and the risks that a combination of impulsivity, severe emotional dysregulation and an acute mental health crisis can bring.

If you are experiencing thoughts of harming yourself, suicidal thoughts, or in the middle of a mental health emergency, please seek help immediately. (The same applies if you are seeking help on behalf of someone else)

  • Call 999 and ask for an ambulance

  • Go straight to A&E if you can

  • Call your local crisis team if there is one

  • Call the Samaritans (number below)

  • Call a trusted friend or family member

PLEASE reach out for help, and we promise from experience that even the darkest places don’t last, and there is ALWAYS help available and light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how bleak and hopeless it seems right now.

We have also included a number for help if you are at risk from harm in a domestic abuse situation, as we are more vulnerable to abusive relationships when we have ADHD.
